OUR CHAPTER
The Military Officers Association of Sarasota, Inc. (MOAS) is an affiliate of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA). MOAA is the nation’s largest and most influential association of uniformed service officers and their surviving spouses, advocating for earned benefits and strong national defense policy.
- We are a member of the Sarasota County Veterans Commission, and together with the many local veterans’ organizations, support 42,000 veterans.
- We are a member of the Florida Council of Chapters, an organization of 38 chapters with over approximately 5,000 members.
- We are the grass roots link between state and county representatives and national MOAA, advocating for all military services active-duty personnel, veterans’ and surviving spouses benefits with our national and state legislators.
Our chapter is socially active and community oriented. We sponsor cultural events that are open to the community. Our luncheons are held at Michaels on East as are special events. Our military gala in December is the highlight of the year.
Our luncheon programs feature speakers from military, city & county governments, and local organizations that hold interest for everyone.
We invite and welcome all uniformed service officers: retired, former or active duty, and surviving spouses of officers to our luncheons; ‘Meet and Greets’ held the second Wednesday of each month to remind us of the Happy Hour of old; and fun YAHOO (Young at Heart) events which can encompass anything from picnics, bowling, polo, kayaking, football games to much more.
Please view our calendar for dates and information.
